Description
Grades K-12
his 90-minute application-driven webinar will prepare attendees to be able to conduct several school-wide mindfulness training sessions by helping them deepen their own mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness is based on ancient contemplative wisdom practices, and has been receiving increased exposure and support as a valuable tool for both children and adults.Current scientific research validates this practice as being able to rewire brains toward health and wellness It can be applied in both personal and professional settings.’ Mindfulness is a practice of embodiment and those working with students in the application of mindfulness are best prepared when they have a personal practice well established. Simply teaching mindfulness will come across as inauthentic and may be viewed as something they have to learn like a lesson in school. Mindfulness is a way of being in the world, something to add to ones to-bd list, not ones to-do list.
Author and mindfulness speaker/trainer Joree Rosenblatt will share easy-to-implement techniques for grounding yourself in a daily practice of mindfulness even if just for a few minutes of your day. By implementing these techniques, you will be able to form new habits and patterns, while developing new brain circuits to actually be able to respond and not react to whatever situation arises with more awareness, attention and intention.
When students or adults practice mindfulness, they discover a greater ability to tolerate difficult emotions, to stay focused on the task at hand, while being more present and connected with the people around them. Increased peace, calm and balance are also benefits. In addition, studies have found that for students, practicing mindfulness increases test scores and executive functioning, provides tools for social and emotional learning, decreases stress, anxiety and bullying.
